Dr. Gilmar Cavalcante is a trumpet player, teacher, and music entrepreneur native of Brazil. He earned a Doctor of Arts degree from Ball State University (Muncie, IN), a Master of Music Performance from Valdosta State University (Valdosta, GA) and a Bachelor of Music in Trumpet Performance from Federal University of Paraiba (UFPB – João Pessoa Campus, Brazil).

     

     Dr. Cavalcante has experience in both classical and popular styles and has presented in regional and international conferences, such as the International Trumpet Guild (ITG), has edited, translated and published articles, books and has released albums; available on Amazon and major streaming platforms (respectively). Currently, he serves as principal trumpet for Manchester Symphony Orchestra (North Manchester, IN), 3rd/utility trumpet for Anderson Symphony Orchestra and teaches at Anderson University (Anderson, IN) and Manchester University (North Manchester, IN).

     

     Dr. Cavalcante expects to accomplish projects in the field of music teaching, including his own trumpet method book; music performance, including an album with new works for trumpet; and (in the field of technology) the development of a music business app. In the meantime, he intends to continue contributing to the field of music through teaching, performing, and helping other musicians to find their pathways to success.
